Laboratorio Bioquímica Médica

About Us

Laboratorio Bioquímica Médica (LBM) is an independent laboratory, specialized in analytic biochemistry applied to various specialties.

The laboratory has been accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) since 1996 and it was the first Argentine laboratory to be awarded this accreditation.

CAP accreditation means that the quality standards required from laboratories in the United States have been met, and these standards evidence a continuous quality improvement program. The College of American Pathologists (CAP) assesses accuracy of the methods used in the laboratory by means of its quality control program.

For over 10 years we have also participated in internal and external quality control programs.

LBM offers a broad array of tests and new procedures are implemented on a regular basis. State-of-the-art technology enables us to perform specialized dosages and tests in different fields of application.

Our structure enables us to provide services to:

  • Pharmaceutical Laboratories and Clinical Research Organizations
  • Health Care Providers
  • Other Laboratories
  • Companies and General Public

Laboratory areas:

  • Clinical Trials (see more)
  • Clinical biochemistry
  • Endocrinology, tumor markers and other immunoassays
  • Drug monitoring and neurochemistry
  • Molecular Genetics & Metabolopathies (see more)

LBM is a clinical laboratory accredited by the College of American Pathologist (CAP) and for over 10 years has actively participated in in-house and independent quality control programs..

Credentials & Quality Control

Laboratory Certifications

  • CAP Laboratory Accreditation since October 1996
  • Laboratory certified by the Fundación Bioquímica Argentina since 2001 (Lab Certification # C-0030)- Republic of Argentina

For over 10 years LBM has actively participated in internal and external quality control programs.

A laboratory certified or accredited in accordance with Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA 88) must perform assessment of health status of human subjects involved in studies.

LBM is a clinical laboratory that meets CLIA 88 requirements.

LBM is accredited by the College of American Pathologists in the following fields:

  • Hematology
  • Clinical Chemistry
  • Urine Test
  • Special Chemistry
  • “In vitro” nuclear medicine, including hormones and tumor markers
  • Therapeutic drug monitoring

Accreditation by CAP means that the quality standards required for laboratories in the United States have been met, and these standards evidence a continuous quality improvement program. The College of American Pathologists (CAP) assesses accuracy of the methods used in the laboratory by means of its quality control program.

This program comprises continuous auditing of our laboratory by this institution by means of: a) a visit to our laboratory every 2 years by a CAP inspector; b) answers to questionnaires, which are assessed by CAP (Proficiency Testing). This assessment of the laboratory's performance is available to medical auditors for inspection.

Quality Control

Our Laboratory is an active participant in internal quality control and external quality programs to guarantee quality and reliability of results reported.

Internal quality control

Our laboratory performs in-house quality control through application of international standards to each analyte tested.

External quality control:

Our laboratory participates in several external proficiency testing programs.
